Mannerheim in Hanko

Marshal Mannerheim was enrolled in Hanko from 1919 to 1935. What kind of life did he spend here, with whom, why in Hanko?

I'm a travel agency owner, a professional guide but also a pianist. That's why I always propose music to be included in my guided tours. When guiding in Hanko, I propose a touching moment in Hanko church. I will read to you Mika Waltari's article from 17 March 1940 (in the middle of the 10 days Hanko people had to get out of their town after the winter war 1939-1940). The text is dramatic, and I will play a dramatic piece after the text: Einojuhani Rautavaara's "Sedonds". I'll finish with playing something light and beautiful. Duration 30 min, price 50 €/group.
